The KnowBefore Manifesto
Nobody reads the fine print. We do.
Every day, people commit to things they don't fully understand — a lease with a rent-escalation clause buried on page 9, a job offer with a non-compete they skimmed past, a coffee maker that's wrong for their kitchen, an energy contract that locks them in for three years. Not because they're careless. Because understanding takes time, and time is the one thing a “sign here” moment never gives you.
KnowBefore is the first product built on TrustWare™, a design philosophy for software that earns trust instead of asking for it. What follows is what that looks like in practice.
We believe the moment right before you commit is the moment that matters most.
Not after. Before. Once you've signed, the leverage is gone. KnowBefore exists for the window where you still have a choice — and it treats that window as sacred.
We don't tell you what to decide. We tell you what you're deciding.
KnowBefore never says “buy this” or “sign that.” It surfaces what's actually in the document, in the offer, in the fine print — verbatim, sourced, traceable back to where it came from. What it means. Where it could bite you. What you still don't know. Then it gets out of your way. The decision stays yours; only the blindness goes away.
Ceremony should match stakes.
A coffee maker doesn't deserve the same scrutiny as a lease. A lease doesn't deserve the same scrutiny as a five-year contract. We refuse to make every decision feel like signing a mortgage, and we refuse to let a real one feel like a five-second tap. The right amount of rigor, and no more.
Evidence over confidence.
An AI that sounds certain is not the same as an AI that's right. Every claim KnowBefore makes about a document is grounded in an actual excerpt from that document — not a summary of what it probably says, not a guess dressed up as fact. When we don't know something, we say so, and we tell you how to find out.
Speed is a promise, not an afterthought.
A tool that makes you wait longer than the decision would've taken on your own has failed at its one job. We build for the moment before you commit — which means we have no right to make that moment slower than doing nothing at all.
The greatest risk in any important commitment is rarely what you know. It's what you don't realize you're missing.
Most bad decisions aren't chosen wrong — they're chosen blind. The clause nobody read. The renewal nobody flagged. The question nobody thought to ask. KnowBefore's job isn't to pick for you. It's to make sure that when you choose, you're choosing with your eyes open.
Understanding shouldn't be a privilege.
For generations, the people with the best lawyers, consultants, analysts, and advisors got an unfair advantage: someone in their corner to organize the information, challenge assumptions, and catch what they'd have missed alone. Everyone else just had to figure it out. KnowBefore exists to close that gap — not by replacing judgment, but by giving everyone the kind of clarity that used to be reserved for people who could afford to buy it.
Know before. Not after.™
